DSÖ: Kovid-19 küresel risk taşıyan tehlikeli bir bulaşıcı hastalık olmayı sürdürüyor

Uluslararası Kızılhaç ve Kızılay Dernekleri Federasyonu dünyanın bir sonraki salgına hazır olmadığı uyarısında bulundu.

Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ), Kovid-19 salgınının hala uluslararası bir acil durum oluşturduğunu, virüsün ise tehlikeli bir bulaşıcı hastalık olmaya devam ettiğini bildirdi.

DSÖ, Kovid-19 acil durum komitesinin salgının küresel alarm gerektirip gerektirmediğiyle ilgili son toplantısının ardından yazılı açıklama yaptı.

Açıklamada, Kovid-19'un uluslararası öneme sahip bir halk sağlığı acil durumu (PHEIC) oluşturmaya devam ettiği vurgulandı.

"Muhtemelen bir geçiş noktasında" olan salgının, insan sağlığına yönelik yüksek küresel riskini koruduğu belirtilen açıklamada, şunlar aktarıldı:

"Komite, şu anda küresel olarak dolaşan Omicron alt soyları yüksek oranda bulaşıcı olmasına rağmen, daha önceki varyantlarla karşılaştırıldığında enfeksiyon ve ciddi hastalık arasında bir ayrıştırma olduğunu kabul etti. Ancak virüs, öngörülemeyen özelliklere sahip yeni varyantlara dönüşme yeteneğini koruyor."

Açıklamada, bu nedenle Kovid-19'un klinik özelliklerini uygun şekilde karakterize etmek için hastaneye yatışlar, yoğun bakım ünitesi kabulleri ve ölümler hakkında daha iyi araştırma ve raporlamaya ihtiyaç duyulduğunu ifade edildi.

Açıklamada virüsün kontrolsüz dolaşımı bağlamında devam eden evrimi ve ülkelerin ölüm, hastaneye yatış ve sıralama ile ilgili verileri raporlama ve paylaşılmasındaki önemli düşüşle ilgili endişeli olunduğunun altı çizildi.

Salgının "bir dönüm noktasına yaklaşıyor olabileceği" ifade edilen açıklamada, virüsün küresel etkisini sınırlandırmak için bazı önerilere yer verildi.

Söz konusu öneriler, "aşılamaya yönelik ivmenin korunması, Kovid-19 aşılamasının yaşam boyu programlara dahil edilmesi, ortaya çıkan varyantları tespit etmek, değerlendirmek ve izlemenin sürdürülmesi, virüsün epidemiyolojisindeki önemli değişikliklerin belirlenmesi, seyahatle ilgili uluslararası önlemler düzenlemeye devam edilmesi" olarak sıralandı.

DSÖ Genel Direktörü Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, 25 Ocak'ta yaptığı açıklamada, son 8 haftada Kovid-19 nedeniyle 170 binden fazla kişinin hayatını kaybettiğini bildirmişti.

Kızılhaç: "Dünya bir sonraki salgına hazır değil"

Öte yandan, Uluslararası Kızılhaç ve Kızılay Dernekleri Federasyonundan (IFRC) yapılan yazılı açıklamada, "Kayıtlı tarihte hiçbir deprem, kuraklık veya kasırga Kovid-19 salgınından daha fazla can almamıştır." denildi.

Ölü sayısının 6,5 milyondan fazla olduğunun tahmin edildiği açıklamada, hiçbir ülkenin bir sonraki salgına hazır olmadığı, ülkelerin "birden çok tehlikeye" hazırlıklı olması gerektiği vurgulandı.

Açıklamada, IFRC Genel Sekreteri Jagan Chapagain'in "Kovid-19 salgını, küresel toplumun bir sonraki sağlık krizine şimdiden hazırlanması için bir uyandırma çağrısı olmalıdır. Dünya liderlerine tavsiyelerimiz, güven inşa etmek, eşitsizlikle mücadele etmek ve hayat kurtarıcı işler yapmak için yerel aktörler ve topluluklardan yararlanmak etrafında toplanıyor.
